Diwali 2026 in your city
Diwali is on Sunday 8 November 2026 in India.
The evenings where you live, from sunset to Amavasya, are computed for 30 cities.
Every time on this page is computed by Nitya's panchang engine from the sun and moon's positions for each city, never typed. How we compute dates
Your city's evening
Sunset, the evening window and when Amavasya begins and ends are computed ahead for 30 cities, and show here with JavaScript on.
Lakshmi puja is kept on the evening Amavasya covers the pradosha window, so the day can differ from city to city.
Why your city can keep a different day from Delhi
A vrat falls on the day its tithi is present at your sunrise. Sunrise in Toronto or London is not sunrise in Delhi, so the same tithi can land on a different civil day here.
An evening festival follows the same rule at its own time of day: Lakshmi puja is kept on the evening Amavasya covers the pradosha window. When a festival falls on a different day here than in India, Nitya says so, and you can pin your temple's date.

Three questions, one card for your family
Where you live, where your family practises, and your phone. The card shows the same evening for each city, from the same computed data.
Five minutes a day
The daily routine most families already have, and many of us abroad have lost. Nitya opens on today and keeps whatever you did.
Today, for your city
The tithi and the day's windows for your own city, and the one thing to do now.
One verse, with its source
A verse with its source, in Devanagari and in Roman letters.
Bhagavad Gita 2.47, as the app sets a verse
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन ।
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥
karmaṇy evādhikāras te mā phaleṣu kadācana mā karmaphalahetur bhūr mā te saṅgo ’stv akarmaṇi
Japa
A mala of 108 beads on screen. Every bead is saved, so nothing is lost if a call comes in or the phone restarts.
The panchang is computed for the place you live
Every timing says how it was computed. Here is one day of the festival week, for your city.
The day card for your city shows here with JavaScript on.
How we compute dates
Every date and time in Nitya is computed for your city with drik ganita, the observational method most panchangs use today. Nothing is generated by a model.
- Sunrise and sunset for your city's coordinates, with atmospheric refraction.
- Tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana from true positions of the sun and moon.
- A vrat falls on the day its tithi is present at your sunrise. That is why New Delhi and Toronto can differ.
- Checked against two independent panchang engines before release.
Positions from NASA JPL's DE440s ephemeris, read with Skyfield; Lahiri ayanamsa. The two engines it is checked against are drik-panchanga and PyJHora.

Questions
When does Nitya open?
When the App Store and Google Play approve it. Early access opens before that, in small groups, by email.
Why is a date here different from the calendar at home in India?
A vrat falls on the day its tithi is present at your sunrise, and sunrise in Toronto or London is not sunrise in Delhi. Nitya shows both dates, and you can pin your temple's date when it keeps a different one.
Will the date for my city change?
No. It is computed once a year from the ephemeris, for your city's coordinates, and shown with its method. A correction would come only from a mistake we find and explain.
Which tradition does it follow?
You choose yours when you start: how your family counts the months, Purnimanta or Amanta, and how it keeps Ekadashi. You can change either later in Settings.
Do I need an account?
No. Nitya works without one. Link an account to keep your history on a new phone or to join a family. Usage statistics can be switched off in Settings.
Does Nitya do pujas or astrology?
No. Nitya sells no pujas and makes no predictions. It shows the day's tithi and windows, a verse with its source, and your own practice. Nothing in Nitya speaks as a deity, and no mantra or ritual is presented as producing a result.
How do I reach you?
